SCLC-GKC 2020 MLK CELEBRATION KICKOFF
"The Dream Continues"
CELEBRATING THE LIFE & WORK OF REV. NELSON "FUZZY" THOMPSON
Saturday, January 11, 2020
3PM - 5PM
A new and exciting event kicks off this year's celebration in honor of former SCLC-GKC President and Civil Rights stalwart, The Late Rev. Dr. Nelson "Fuzzy" Thompson.
This event will occur on Saturday, January 11, 2020, as we partner with the Black Archives of Mid-America for a reception and introduction of an exhibit celebrating
Dr. Fuzzy and SCLC-GKC to which
his mission and call were wed.
This event will include remarks by
U.S. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II,
our president emeritus and founder of SCLC-GKC.
The event will include the presentation of some introductory artifacts of the exhibit, and a presentation which will detail our local chapter's triumphs in activism which was the foundation of Dr. King's work so prominent and impactful here in Kansas City today.
We also look forward to shine light on the previous presidents who shared the dream.
